Motorstorm: Pacific Rift Preview

Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is the second chapter from the Motorstorm series. With a whole new island, better graphics and better gameplay mechanics, this time around Motorstorm will be a better game to play. With the Dual Shock 3, Trophies and In-Game Music this game can be a way better game then the first one. In the demo you can tell how different the game is when you are scrolling through the menu. Before it would take forever for the vehicles to load up but now it’s real fluid. You also have the option of playing friends that are in your house, before that option wasn’t there you could of only played online. Now after playing the demo for like an hour, I don’t think I can really get into this game because I ain’t really into racers like that except for Gran Turismo. The control of the vehicles is a little bit more complicated than the first one. You have to use more brakes around this time then before, but it seems that the motorcycles are easier to control compared to the monster truck and the pick-up truck. The one flaw about motorcycles is that if you just kinda nudge the car too much with the motorcycles you will fall off. Graphically the game looks a little bit better than the first one, but not too much. The one thing that I think they kinda failed at are the crashes. In the first Motorstorm the crashes looked more realestic than the second one, maybe they tweaked it down a little bit to make maps and the characters graphically better. Overall this is a game that I will/might pick up if the presentation is better then the demo, but if it doesn't I will make it a rental. It is a better game with all the new features than the first Motostorm didn't have, but it may not cut it.

Welcome Home

I've been chosen as a new beta tester for home and let me first start off by saying its AMAZING! I will spell out some things that have been misreported and some things that have been greatly reported by DLB. I would like to give him credit on his walkthroughs, because I believe their the best little tutorials on the net. As far as some of the other misreporting on home, let me dispel all the critics and naysayers. Upon receiving home you will have to go through a series of downloads that do take a long time, but the people that are doing the misreporting of home want you to believe that these long downloads occur all the time. Let me say once you have gone through the initial download of all the home spaces, Harbour Studio, the Central Plaza, the GameSpace, the Theatre, and the Mall the loading times to move between space to space is on average only 8-10 sec. Its been reported that the graphics are lack luster. This is another false report on homes graphics. The graphics inside home are great. From the flow and feel of the courtyard to the look and texture of the water to the jumbo tv's mounted throughout home and the beautiful placement of the adds. To not be impressed by homes graphics is ridiculous. The only thing I dislike and think they can change with the graphics are the customization of the avatars. The hair looks like garbage, but a minor detail in the big scheme of things. Even with the limited things they give you in the beta to customize your space and avatar sometimes you can get stuck in your apartment and dressing room for hours. There is not enough information on how to navigate through home upon entering the Harbour Studio to customize your character. There are no icons that let you know how to pull up your psp where a majority of the information is located on your psp xmb if not all. Currently there are a lot of features on the psp xmb that are not accessible, but once implemented the home community will be as strong as XBL if not stronger in my opinion. While in home I've made some new friends and heard some rumors as well. This is just a rumor, but seeing the growth and simplicity of making new friends in home I see it happening. I heard that Sony is thinking of adding the friends list to 200. Another thing I discovered while in home is its not region locked. So if your invited to the Japan home you may go. I didn't ask him whether or not the UK version of home is different from the US version or if Japan is the only territory that has a different version of home. I'm excited to hear that they will be incorporating folding at home with home. So whenever your in home you'll automatically be folding. I think that's great, because I was never sold on folding. I would like for Sony to release home as is glitches, freezes, and all cause at the end of the day its phenominal.

MAJOR SIDE NOTE: For those who have become a new beta tester for home and trying to figure out how to voice chat in home, here's how.

pull up your psp by pressing the start button on your controller.

Once on your psp, head over to your settings on your psp xmb and select chat and make sure its enabled then go to sound.
Change your input device to your ps3 camera and your output device to your bluetooth.

That should give you sound and BIG SHOT OUT to DBLACK and ADVENTVALOR for helping me while I was in home.

Was it Booty?...

Hell No!!! Quest for Booty was the shit. The graphics were phenomenal. The sound was great. The gameplay was stellar and the new innovation with the wrench was fresh. It was really short, but everything expected in a psn title. I wont spoil the ending for anyone who hasn't finished the game, but I will say, "being that it was real short, it was refreshing to have an ending that leads into a siren type of series."

Team Reality or Majesco maybe ghostbusters publishers?

Team reality just may be the new publisher of the next gen Ghostbusters video game. Knowing that Team Reality and Majesco are very close, you might see Ghostbusters be published by either team. If anyone can remember way back when Psychonauts was finished, the developers dropped the game and a year and some odd months later Majesco published the game, and the game became a sleeper hit. Majesco was never able to make a half decent game by themselves. If Majesco publishes this game it'll be another sleeper hit, if Team reality ends up with it, it still might be a sleeper hit.

SoulCalibur Update

It hasn't been out for to long and already the best fighting game of the year has just gotten better. I reviewed SC4 not to long ago an said the only thing it was missing was voice chat during battle and rumble. Well they got voice chat! With the latest update of version 1.02 you can now talk shit while in battle. I don't doubt rumble will be coming soon as well being that it didn't take them long to put in a voice chat feature. I love how the developers over at NAMCO are on top of their game. Activision step yours up.

‘Cool’ New Rockstar Game In The Works?

Rockstar is working on a new game based on a ‘cool’ license, according to the latest issue of the Official PlayStation magazine. There is no mention of what it is or whether it’s PlayStation 3-exclusive, but this certainly has Team PlayStation Beyond well and truly stumped.

We would have suggested LA Noire if it weren’t for the key word ‘new’. It could be well off the mark, but to make guesswork of the quote, we’re assuming it’s a snowboarding game, hence the term ‘cool’. After all, many scoffed at the announcement of Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis and then ate their words when it turned out to be a brilliant sports title from the Grand Theft Auto developer. We’ll keep our eyes peeled!

THE WAIT IS OVER

It's been a long time coming. I've been waiting for SoulCaliburIV for some time and the wait is finally over. I had some reservations about the game when I learned that there wouldn't be any rumble or trophy support, but the game never supported the rumble feature in previous SC games so it wasn't that much of a let down. Plus SC is not a game to truly benefit from trophies unless your a true trophy whore. There was alot of debate on having not having Kratos in the game, and only featuring 4 new charaters, but once I heard it was going to be online there was no doubt in my mind I was going to get this game. The fighting is what makes this game amazing and as always they never disappoint. However there was a little disappointment come to find that there wasn't tag like in the Tekken Tag game or Marvel vs Capcom 2 as reported on other sites. We would have seen the Ultimate Match Ups if they were to have put that feature in the game. The fighting mechanics are flawless, the graphics are ridiculous, and the extra character creation is WHOLE LOT better than the third version. As much as I like the game I do have to smash the game for its minor miscues. Other than that, it is a definite must have for your fighting collection. Be on the look out for our SoulCalibur tournament.

GARDEN OF CONFUSION

The Playstation Store received its update thursday and in it was its talked about game PIXEL JUNK EDEN. For me, the game was very confusing and for a game that was talked about at E3 I felt that they could have left this one on the shelf. What is the premise, where is the control layout, where is your garden, how do you take the whatever you collect back to your garden? All of these questions and more are not explained in the demo...EASILY. Maybe I need to spend some more time with this game, but the custom soundtracks is not going to prevent this game from getting a failing grade. I suggest if you want to add PIXEL JUNK EDEN to your collection of PSN titles you should see if any of your friends have PIXEL JUNK EDEN so you can game share it. I think its just JUNK.

Next Ratchet & Clank in 2009?

The Swedish gaming site Level7.nu claims that by finishing Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty, you’ll get to see a screen that says the next installment in the Ratchet & Clank series will be released in late 2009. For now, chalk this up as a rumor, but we wouldn’t be too surprised if this is true since Insomniac are churning out games like madmen.

FFVII for PS3 is rumour and speculation

Square Enix has refused to comment on "rumour and speculation" that Final Fantasy VII is heading to PS3 in a revised format.
Website PlayStation Lifestyle claims that the widely-adored RPG is being refitted exclusively for the Sony console, citing inside information, but can't say whether it will be on Blu-ray or PSN.
The site also says to expect a separate port of the original FFVII to appear on PSN in 2008, which echoes other unsubstantiated claims from earlier in the year.
We may learn more from the Square Enix Party in Tokyo, which takes place on 2nd and 3rd August.

CHEER UP

FF fans you may have made had your feelings hurt that FFXIII is no longer exclusive to the PS3, but the rumor is that FFVII is to be remade exclusively to the PS3. I would like to see this rumor come true, but would have been happier to see Sony secure Level 5 at E3.

THE BIG SHOW

Everyone has a review as of what took place from Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony, so here are my thoughts; I'm not going to rate or grade the conference like everyone else, but I'm going to try and shed some light as to what took place from all three major players. First up we had Microsoft and I thought their press conference was boring. They focused a majority of their time praising themselves with numbers and not showing games. The games that they did show for the console were not too impressive, and the impressive things that we did see were seen previous to the show. The new interface that they will be rolling out and avatars, to me was a sign that their current dashboard is prehestoric and their playing follow the leader. Lips is a very cool idea and definitely sounds a step above SINGSTAR, but will the game deliver or will MS just be giving us lip service? Their show stopper was the announcement that FFXIII will be on 360. Now thats big, but not HUGE. The game will still be exclusive in Japan and the Playstation will still have FFVS. exclusive to the system. I see the move as a way to negate playstation sells in North America and Europe, but it was a blow to Final Fantasy fans and does put the question out there, "will the game be dumbed down?"
Ninetendo's press conference presentation was worse than MS, but I think they had a better showing of games. Most of the games unveiled were predicted "Animal Crossing online and STAR OCEAN" but what took place on the DS even knowing that they would have a strong showing was HUGE. GTA, GUITAR HERO, POKEMON, and Chinatown on the DS and Wii music stole the show from MS in my opinion. Just being aware of how the Guitar Hero and Rockband franchise has taken off, Wii music is going to be instant gold.
It was now Sony's time to shine and truthfully they had a lot to prove after being given a HUGE BODY BLOW with FFXIII and the demonstration with Wii music was genius.
Sony lead off their show with RESISTANCE 2 and so much has been seen from this title they needed to show us something BIG and they did. The boss battle with the Leviathan was a step above the GEARS2 SHOWING in my opinion. I enjoyed how they had the demonstration of LBP to present the dry portion of their conference which was cool. THE PSP WAS KILLER. The announcements of RESISTANCE -RETRIBUTION-, PATAPON 2, Stardust HD Portable, and the list goes on. The Playstation store is going to get some serious content with RATCHET and CLANK FUTURE: QUEST FOR BOOTY, SIREN: Blood Curse, and Videos. They also announced a price drop for the 80GB PS3 and a new PSP RATCHET and CLANK SIZE MATTERS bundle. There was so much from sony including the new home spaces and their show stoppers were both MAG and GOD OF WAR III.
In general I wasn't that surprised as to what took place at E3 other than I would have thought MS would have showcased the multiplatform games more, but it was Sony. The only multiplatform game we saw from MS was R5.

VIDEO STORE

The new PLAYSTATION VIDEO STORE that was made available to us yesterday is AMAZING. The navigation is smooth and effortless and on the same level as the PLAYSTATION GAME STORE section. They launched with a lot of content unlike QORE, but thats a different debate. The pricing is more than reasonable, and I personally think its a better alternative than Netflix because the movies if you choose to purchase will be offered in HD.

HAVE YOU HEARD?

Activision might be making a skate board peripheral for the next Tony Hawk game. Isn't the Wii making a Wii Board of some sort too? We will see..

Microsoft apparently will be letting 3rd parties build X-box 360 compatible hardware. In other words, maybe Samsung will finally deliver a Blu Ray drive to the X-Box..lol

GTA4 DLC for the 360 will be episodic and the first episode might not star Niko, but a biker character. Will they be doing this for the PS3 DLC also??

FULL PRICE? MADNESS

Well we recieved a few demos in the Playstation store and definitely more than QORE and you better believe I have alot to say about that, but I wanted to focus on a game I recently downloaded, "MONSTER MADNESS." This game was ok and felt like WOLF of the BATTLEFIELD COMMANDO 3. A nice small psn title with Jennifers BIG cartoon titties lol, but when I heard that the game may actually be full price I thought, "ARE THEY MAD?" I know MADNESS is in the title, but their is no way this game should be more than 9.99 and thats a stretch. There were even a couple of things missing in the demo such as a layout of your button controls even though they were real simple. There was no explination of how to reload or gather extra ammo, use your melee attack and so on. The demo was kinda empty and definitely didn't feel like a FULL VERSION GAME. Maybe a PSN title if Jennifer has an unlockable bathing suit otherwise in my opinion I'd stay away from it.

PSP CRAZY

The PSP is the best hand held on the market hands down. With so many capable features and now there is a sprinkle of titles starting to appear on the PSP such as GOD OF WAR CHAINS OF OLYMPUS, PATAPON, and echochrome the PSP is getting larger. I'm gonna talk about an older game on the PSP that I think you should pick up. CRAZY TAXI. This arcade hit is a PSP hit as well. The graphics, sound, and gameplay are top notch for the system. It feels like you have the Arcade in the palm of your hand. I give this game a solid 8.0.

Resistance 2 Exclusive Chicago Gameplay Campaign/ Multiplayer

Whassup, this is THE GREATEST and here it is the sequel PS3 owners have been waiting on, well not me personally but it's getting a fare share of words from the consumer's so lets see what the rest of the G.O.S. crew has to say about it.

THIN IS IN

Everyone is talking of a slim PS3 and the rumors have been circleing for awhile.
Gadget site T3, which have no integrity when it comes to rumors are claiming that their “insider” at Sony talked about a Slim PS3 (PSThree?) at CES, adding fuel to the fire that a console should be expected around holiday 2008, Novemberish. Considering that it took 3.5 years before they slimmed down the PS2 and five years before PS1 was slimmed down, there’s no way Sony is releasing a new version this year - they barely just got production to a stable rate at a stable price.

Obviously, Sony will at some point make a slimmer version, mainly because of shrinking the internal components like CPU, RAM and graphics chips, but so far only the Cell is on 65nm - rest is on 90nm.

SOULKRATOS

By now everyone has heard of the rumor of Kratos being an exclusive character for the upcoming game, "SOULCALIBUR IV." Well its been brought to my attention that Sony has squashed this rumor, but the GOS crew is so in love with Kratos, I'm going to keep it alive cause you never now if your able to get Kratos as DLC in the future....We can only Dream.
